About Me
Dr Rachel Burgon- BSC (HONS), MSC, D.CLIN.PSY
I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist specialising in eating disorders and sports performance. I graduated with an honours degree in Psychology (University of Liverpool) and a Masters of Science degree in Eating Disorders and Clinical Nutrition. I later went to complete my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Sheffield. I have published research on body image in athletes and non-athletes, in addition to research on appetite control and obesity.
I have over 6 years experience working in the NHS, supporting individuals across the lifespan, experiencing a range of difficulties (eating disorders, depression, anxiety, phobias, trauma…). I have also worked on a Neurorehabilitation Ward helping people to adjust to brain injuries and disability. I’m passionate about supporting our athletes and work closely with Project RED-S (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport).
I have a background in sports. I am a competitive runner, competing in races ranging from 5k to Ultramarathons and 24 hour races including many podium wins. I have raced in the prestigious Boston Marathon and achieved a Championship qualifier for the London Marathon with a time of 3:06. Aside from running, I have podiumed in Crossfit competitions, played tennis for my County and I am part of a Badminton Club.
