A safe space to discuss your mental healthcare needs.
Clinical Psychology
As a Clinical Psychologist, I am trained to assess, formulate (understand and summarise difficulties within a theoretical model) and treat mental health difficulties. This includes the following:
Eating Disorders/ Body Image difficulties
Depression
Anxiety
Phobias
OCD
Adjustment difficulties
Trauma
Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S)- see ‘Sporting Psychological Services ‘ tab
All Clinical Psychologists receive training in many therapeutic models. As part of my doctorate, I was trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I have also received further training in trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR). Having training in multiple approaches, means that we can find an approach to fit your needs.
Eating Disorder/ Disordered Eating and REDs Support
I have a Masters in Eating Disorders and Clinical Nutrition (a course fulfilling registered Nutritionist criteria); published research on body image in athletes and appetite regulation and control; and have supported individuals in an outpatient eating disorder service.
Therefore, I offer more specific therapies in Eating Disorders/ Disordered Eating and Body Image, in addition to supporting our sporting population with REDs (see Sport Psychological Services)
It is common for many individuals to have somewhat difficult relationships with food and eating; whether that reaches ‘clinical threshold’ or not. Coupling my Clinical Psychology with my Nutritional knowledge places me in a perfect position to explore and support your relationship with food and your body image.
Head over to our blog page to read more about eating disorders and body image. You can find further information on REDs on our sporting psychological services page.
Therapeutic modalities:
-
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
A goal-oriented psychotherapy that focuses on identifying and modifying negative thought patterns and behaviours to promote emotional well-being and effective coping.
-
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)
Rooted in cultivating self-compassion and empathy, aiming to alleviate psychological distress by addressing self-criticism and developing a kinder, more nurturing relationship with oneself.
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a psychotherapeutic approach that encourages individuals to accept their thoughts and emotions while committing to actions aligned with their values, promoting psychological flexibility and improving well-being.
-
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing)
EMDR is a therapeutic approach designed to help individuals process and resolve trauma and distressing memories.
EMDR can be effective for individuals with PTSD, anxiety, depression, OCD and phobias (to name a few).
